About
I am Michael Sanchez, a photographer based in the Portland/Vancouver metro area with a focus on capturing sports (particularly lacrosse) in a way that reflects how the game actually feels.
Most meaningful moments in sports happen quickly. Families often miss them from the stands, and athletes rarely see images that show their effort, focus, and presence in the game. My approach is centered on anticipation and timing, paying attention to where plays develop and what matters before the moment is gone.
I came to sports photography through other creative work, and over time I found myself drawn to the intensity and rhythm of live competition. What matters to me is not staging or slowing things down, but documenting games as they unfold. I work quietly and intentionally, staying out of the way while remaining fully engaged with the flow of play.
The goal is simple. I want families, teams, and athletes to be able to look back on a season and recognize it as it truly was. Not just the obvious highlights, but the moments in between that define how a game felt and how it was played.
If you are looking for a photographer who understands the pace of competition and the value of the moments that often go unseen, you are in the right place.
